"Nocturnal" original painting

15" x  30"  acrylic on canvas

The extreme cold and the darkness were powerful influences over my mood and my energy. To cope with the environment I developed a ritual of walking through the woods during the cold, dark winter nights. The physical excercise and fresh air were energizing and uplifitng. It was good for my mental health to get out of the cabin and embrace my surroundings. I was often alone but instead of dwelling on it I was able to focus on the beauty of the scenery that surrounded me. I found peace and joy in the simplicity of my surroundings and comfort in the company of the forest. -Sue Dranchak

"Nocturnal" is currently on display and available for sale at the Well St. Art Company in Fairbanks, AK

Nature is where I go to restore my positive energy

To keep things in perspective and to achieve balance in my pesonal life I spend time outdoors connecting with nature. It is a necessary and rejuvenating ritual that helps restore my positive energy. The sights and sounds of a beautiful natural setting are spiritually uplifting and  inspire my creative flow as well. I paint to convey and share those feelings of peace with others. It is my hope to promote postive feelings of appreciation  for the aesthetic value of nature.

About art and nature

Seeking simplicity in an ever changing  and fast paced world, I enjoy spending time outdoors exploring, observing and reconnecting with nature. My excursions are a rejuvenating and restorative ritual in my life where I find perspective, balance and inner peace. It is in this environment that I find inspiration for my paintings. My goal is to create images that will promote positive feelings of peace and appreciation for the natural world.  -Sue Dranchak
