The arrival of migratory waterfowel is a sure sign of spring in Fairbanks, Alaska. I have been back  here for  two weeks and I have spent some of my time over at Creamer's Field which was an old dairy farm back in the day but is now a migratory waterfowel preserve. Although I have been observing and sketching the sandhill cranes as well as the mallard ducks hanging out in this area the pair in the above paintings were swimming at nearby Chena River.
